All use of AI ends in a reorg
AI will run into someone's job, budget or authority. Expect it. Prepare for it.
I reckon all use of AI ends in a reorg. Keep using it and you'll hit someone's job, budget or authority.
You start with a small use case. It works, so you try a bigger one. Soon you're doing work another department owns, and its manager wants a word.
That's predictable. These tools are too powerful to stay inside the boxes we've drawn for them.
Bureaucracies run on information flows and decision rights. Who knows what, and who gets to decide. Change how information moves and the decisions need to move too.
If a team can get answers and act without three handoffs, those handoffs need another reason to exist. Keeping them because they're on the org chart is a shit reason.
This means jobs change. Some lose work, others gain authority. Pretending everyone gets more productive and nothing else changes is bullshit.
Assume this will happen. Have the conversation about jobs and authority while the use case is still small. Don't wait until it works, then punish people for crossing a boundary you told them to push.
Don't give people fire and be surprised if someone gets burnt.
